Overview Of DLLE.

The Department of Lifelong learning and Extension (DLLE) was started in G. M. Vedak College of Science in 2012. To facilitate the sensitization of the student to the socio- culture realities, the DLLE of Mumbai University offers for the students, extension work projects encompassing social issues. The DLLE offers flexible Continuing Education opportunities for the people. As a well-founded academic Department of the University of Mumbai, the Department is committed both to the highest standards of excellence, and to ensuring that the University's unparalleled academic strengths and resources made available to as many interested learners as possible so as to play a pivotal role in reaching basic education to the masses. Keeping these views in mind the college has started the extension services. The main aim of the extension education is for the development of the people and for field outreach activities. There are six types of different projects are being offered by the department under the two different units.

The student is awarded 10 additional marks under the ordinance 229 at the final exam for a project on completion of 120 hours of work and the submission of a project report which undertaken by college students.

Activities

• • » The Department of Life Long Learning and Extension had organized its annual extension festival UDAAN the flight of extension on 10th January, 2016 at Murad College, Murud with 2 competitions namely Street play and Poster competition. Our students from DLLE participated in both the events and won the 3rd prize in the Street play competition among 16 colleges. The winners were debilitated with certificates and trophy and the participants were also given participation certificates.


• • » Two students were participated in anchoring competition held at Churchgate by DLLE and selected for the anchoring for UDAAN- the flight of extension held at Murad College on 10th January, 2016.


• • »Blood donation camp were organized in association with the Alibag Civil hospital where in the medical team of Hospital made the students aware about how a single pint can save three lives; A single gesture can create million smiles, along with the benefits of Blood Donation. Students and staff members made it a grand success by huge voluntary participation, as always, whereby they were able to collect 52 units of blood

During last three year, the department was academically engaged in various activities poster making, blood donation etc. Every year, the DLLE of Mumbai University organizes an evaluation process through arranging an Annual Extension Work Festival “UDAAN”- the flight of the extension. Main theme of the festival is REACH TO UNREACHED, by giving benefit to those who are unable to take higher education. Our college students actively participated in the UDAAN festival.
